Prodia the CRO was attending The 2025 APAC Health and Life Science Summit – Spotlight Indonesia which took place on June 3, 2025, at the prestigious Westin Hotel, marking a significant milestone as the first time ASK Health Asia organized this esteemed event in Indonesia. This summit served as a pivotal platform, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators to explore Indonesia’s evolving policy landscape, regional regulatory and innovation partnerships, investment opportunities, and local collaboration models.

The event was inaugurated by the Ministry of Health, Chairman of BRIN, and Head of BPOM, setting the tone for a comprehensive discussion on the future of healthcare in Indonesia. In his opening remarks, the Minister of Health emphasized Indonesia’s pressing need for health innovation, particularly in addressing the country’s high healthcare costs, which pose a significant burden on its citizens. To mitigate this challenge, the Minister extended an invitation to Chinese investors to bring new technologies that could enhance accessibility, affordability, and innovative solutions for Indonesia’s life expectancy age, which  often face limited healthcare funding.

One of the keynote speakers, Ibu Rizka Andalucia, Director General for Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices at the Ministry of Health, expressed her hope that the summit would yield meaningful collaborations on high-tech, cost-efficient devices. She highlighted the Ministry’s strategic approach to supporting a conducive ecosystem for research and collaboration, which encompasses three critical aspects: regulation, innovation, and clinical. By fostering an environment that encourages innovation and investment, the Ministry aims to drive progress in Indonesia’s healthcare sector.

In line with this vision, the government has issued regulations to accelerate the use of domestic products, providing opportunities for local manufacturing investments to enter the Indonesian market. This move is expected to not only stimulate economic growth but also enhance the country’s self-sufficiency in meeting its healthcare needs. Additionally, the government has announced various incentives to support local industries, further solidifying its commitment to developing a robust healthcare ecosystem.

Throughout the summit, participants engaged in lively discussions, sharing insights and expertise on various topics, including investment opportunities in Indonesia’s healthcare sector, regional regulatory frameworks, and innovative partnership models. The event provided a valuable platform for stakeholders to forge new partnerships, explore business opportunities, and contribute to shaping the future of healthcare in Indonesia.

As the summit concluded, participants left with a renewed sense of purpose and optimism, inspired by the potential for growth and innovation in Indonesia’s healthcare sector. With its strategic location, growing economy, and commitment to healthcare reform, Indonesia is poised to become a key player in the region’s healthcare landscape.

IASMED Seminars 2025 “Moving Forward: Indonesian Clinical Trial”

The IASMED 2025 Scientific Seminar “Moving Forward: Indonesian Clinical Trial” was held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, by Indonesia’s clinical trial association, The Indonesian Association for The Study of Medicines (IASMED).

Prof. dr. Tarunan Ikrar, M.Biomed. PhD was speaking about Readiness of Clinical Trial Site on IASMED Scientific Seminar January 18th, 2025

This seminar is aimed to provide IASMED members to update information regarding clinical trial sites in order to improve the quality and quantity of clinical trials in Indonesia, especially multi-regional clinical trials (MRCT). There are two sessions on this scientific seminar. The first session consists of 4 speakers that are apt. Indri Rooslamiati, M.Sc as the Head of BB Binomika, Prof. dr. Taruna Ikrar, M.Biomed., Ph.D – Head of BPOM, Prof. Young Joo Par as  Vice President DIA Korea, Singapore, and Southeast Asia and Dra. Endang W. Hoyaranda as the head of IASMED. The second session is a panel discussion with the clinical trial stakeholders.  One of the main speaker is Prof. dr. Taruna Ikrar, M.Biomed., Ph.D – Head of BPOM. He said that BPOM will continue to supervise the clinical trial center’s infrastructure and personnel and keep fostering collaboration and integration among academia, business, and governance. There is also a networking session on this seminar where IASMED members can meet representatives from Clinical Research Unit of many hospitals and other clinical trials collaborators.

Head of BB Binomika, CRUs, sponsors, global and local CROs.

In addition to the scientific agenda,during this eventalso celebrated the election of the IASMED chairs, including the new IASMED committee chairs and IASMED supervisory board chair.  May IASMED continued success and contribute more to enhancing the quality and quantity of clinical trials in Indonesia.

Prodia the CRO attend the 5th ARSPTN Annual Meeting

[Bandung, Indonesia] On 20 July 2024, Prodia the CRO attended the 5th annual meeting of the Association of Public University Hospital / Asosiasi Rumah Sakit Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (ARSPTN) in Bandung.

The existence of public universities hospital began when the Ministry of Health issued temporary permits for seven dental and oral hospitals (RSGM) belonging to public universities (perguruan tinggi negeri) simultaneously on 27 June 2002. These seven dental and oral hospitals were belonging to University of North Sumatra, University of Indonesia, Padjadjaran University, Gadjah Mada University, Hasanuddin University, Airlangga University, and Jember University.

Meanwhile, general hospitals (RSU) that belong to the public universities began with the establishment of hospitals that belong to Gadjah Mada University and Hasanuddin University in 2010, followed by hospital that belong to Airlangga University in 2011. Other public university hospitals were established afterwards in many places according to the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) program at those time. In 2023, there were 39 public universities hospitals that consisted of 25 general hospitals and 14 Dental and Oral Hospitals.  The dynamics in managing public universities hospitals creating a sense of togetherness which was later manifested in the establishment of ARSPTN on 28 October 2017 in Surabaya.  To exchange ideas and experiences, ARSPTN routinely held an annual meeting. In 2024, the fifth ARSPTN annual meeting was held in Trans Luxury Hotel Bandung on 19-21 June 2024 and hosted by Padjajaran University Oral and Dental Hospitals. This meeting was attended by representatives from many public universities teaching hospital in Indonesia.  The theme of this 5th annual meeting is “Strengthening Hospital Competitiveness in the New Era Post the Implementation of Undang-undang No. 17 tahun 2023 regarding Health”

On the fifth ARSPTN Annual Meeting, two MURI (Indonesia World Records Museum) records were broken that are MURI World Records on Playing Angklung to accompany HIV song by the largest number of health care workers and MURI Indonesia Records: interprofessional education program with the largest number of students.

Prodia the CRO was one of the Sponsors for the ARSPTN 5th annual meeting. During this meeting, Dr. apt. Ida Paulina Sormin, M.Si, as a Site Management Organization Manager (SMO) of Prodia the CRO, gave a short presentation about the Development of Clinical Research Unit (CRU) for improving Clinical Trials in Indonesia. During the event, Prodia the CRO was also inviting the public university hospitals to collaborate with SMO for Clinical Research Unit Development.
